Changing Breed: Bastet
" ... "
-- ..., "..."
CATS: All Leopards (including the Clouded Leopard).
CATS: All Jaguar.
SPECIAL: Lock Jaw*.
CATS: Originally the great cats of Egypt. Now there are only domesticated versions such as the Mau, Caracal, and African Wild Cat. Their cat form is all black and slightly larger than a large house cat.
It is generally believed that there were "house" cats and larger "guardian cats" that are, in some mixure, represented closest by the current Egyptian Mau and the African Wild Cat respectively. It is believed that all domestic cats have at least some relation to these cats but the Mau is the closest to the house cats of later Egyptian dynasties and the African Wild Cat is the cat that they originated from.
The Mau (mau is the Egyptian word for cat) has been clearly identified in the artwork of the ancient Egyptians, leaving no question in the minds of many experts that the Egyptian Mau is indeed the cat domesticated from a spotted subspecies of the African Wild Cat (also known as the African Jungle Cat).
Great Cat of Kyphur?
I have not been able to find any reference outside of a White Wolf book of a "Great Cat of Kyphur". If anyone knows of them, please e-mail me and let me know where I can find this information.

|Pure Breed 4 - 5|
CATS: Originally the European Maneless Lion (Cave Lion). Due to the extinction of their original feline kin, they have adopted others. They can resemble many different breeds of cats and can have size, build and marking combinations that are not found in nature. Their proximity to their very large ancestors should be reflected in their Pure Breed score.
As written, it seems that Lion as referred to by the White Howlers would be the same as the great spirit of the Simba. I do not run my games with this assumption. I assume that Lion to the White Howlers is none other than White Lion, the great spirit of the Ceilican.
The last European Lions (and therefore original feline kin to the Ceilican) were seen around 100 A.D. By this point the Ceilican would have already been breeding with other cats out of necessity. The fall of the White Howlers occurred around 200 A.D. according to Book of the Wyrm. The White Howlers tribal totem abandoned the tribe, their lore was lost, and the spirits no longer recognized the tribe members. These events left White Lion with only the Ceilican who have already started forging their ties with the fae.
Changing of the Yava
A thousand years later, the Ceilican have bred with the fae and think themselves as much fae as they do bastet. They do not honor themselves and their spirit as they should have. And they paid the price as they are betrayed by someone amongst them. Through the use of their yava, some of the fae lords enslave or kill many of the tribe, taking them to Arcadia as pets. Many of the rest gather together to perform a ritual that changed their yava to what it is now. The details of this ritual are lost to memory.
- The faerie cats fear the touch of cold iron. It burns them like a brand. (Cold Iron affects them as does Silver)
CATS: All Tigers. Sometimes one of the extinct breeds will surface in Khan blood.
- The Khan belong to the tribe of the sun; when he sleeps, they sleep also (if they wake, they are at -2 dice to all actions; this overrides the 1 die minimum rule). During an eclipse, all Khan slumber for one day, then awaken hungry.
SPECIAL: Lock Jaw*.

CATS: Ocelot, Jaguarundi, etc. Most of the small South and Central American cats not claimed by Qualmi.
- Bar an ocelot from the freedom of the wind, and he will wither and die in madness.
- Wipe out an Ocelotl's tracks behind him, and he will be disoriented for days.
- Butterfly's wings, powdered in an ocelot's food, will deal him damage as sure as silver.
CATS: Puma, Mountain Lion, Cougar.
CATS: All Lynx, Bobcat, Forest Cats, etc. that have striped or tabby style markings.
CATS: All Lions. Can also include the Barbary or Cape Lions which are considered to be recently extinct but are though to still be alive in small numbers (mostly in captivity; see Merit: Great Lion).
4pt. Physical Merit: Great Lion
Your feline form is one of the recent great lions (the Barbary or the Cape) and as such you are larger and more powerful but not quite as quick.
SPECIAL: Lock Jaw*.
CATS: The Cheetah.

Boon of the Buka (General Bastet Level Two) -- The cat knows the second most famous trick of Cheshire, taught by an elk or wild horse spirit. A guardian of the forest can also teach this gift.
